Brake Repair
Brake Repair Description
One of the most critical systems of any car is the brake system. This provides the crucial ability to stop the vehicle, ensuring the safety of driver, passengers, and other vehicles on the road. The brake system is comprised of precise parts working in concert with one another to stop the vehicle. When drivers push the brake pedal, a receptacle, known as a mastery cylinder, hydraulic fluid is pressurized through a series of brake lines leading to each wheel. This causes the brake pad to contact the rotor or drum, creating friction which slows the vehicle’s progress until it stops. As one might expect, this repeated friction can cause a great deal of heat which can wear pads, shoes, calipers, rotors, as well as, many other components of the braking system. While each vehicle has a different brake system, the signs of wear and need for maintenance remain the same.
Benefits of Brake Repair
Some of the signs of worn brakes are fairly obvious, while others might not be. When the brake pedal is pressed down and grinding or squeaking sounds are heard this can be an indication of worn brake pads. If the vehicle drifts to one side during braking, this can be a sign that one of the calipers is not adequately applying pressure. If the pedal is pushed down and the brakes feel soft and no longer engage the way they usually do, this can be a sign of low fluid levels. It can also be an indication that air has infiltrated the hydraulic system. Some vehicles provide indicators in the form of dashboard lights regarding specific systems.
It is important if the brakes no longer ‘feel’ like they are adequately stopping the vehicle that the brake system is inspected by a professional. If your vehicle is exhibiting any of the above symptoms, reach out to us today. Grinding or squeaking sounds when braking are not normal nor are ‘soft’ feeling brakes. We can inspect them and make recommendations for repairs and maintenance. If you have questions or concerns about the braking system of your vehicle, reach out to us today.
